Haridwar, Rishikesh

A scramble could be seen among the pilgrims to take a holy dip at Har-Ki-Pauri, the sacred ghat in Haridwar. The rush of pilgrims could also be seen at others, Kushavrat Ghat and Subhash Ghat. Pilgrims from the country's areas started pouring in Haridwar. The majority of ashrams, hotels, and Dharamshala were packed to capacity accommodating a large influx of pilgrims.

As a mythology, the Ganges descended in the matted locks of Lord Shiva on the Ganga Dussehra day per. Hence, Ganga Dussehra keeps enormous importance. The dip in the holy Ganges on the Ganga Dussehra afternoon is thought to absolve one. Besides the dip, a high number of pilgrims may be seen performing worship at Hari Ki Pauri under the guidance of priests at Brahmakund.

The Haridwar district administration and police had made elaborate security arrangements to ensure smooth behavior of Ganga Dussehra proceedings. The government had deployed divers along the ghats to take care of any emergency like scenario.
